PAUL WELLER has urged fellow Brit JOHN LYDON to stop clinging to the past - because the punk icon has become the "antithesis" of JOHNNY ROTTEN. The Jam founder admits he shudders every time he sees Lydon on reality TV shows or hears of another planned Sex Pistols reunion. And he has two simple words of advice for the punk star: "Leave it." Weller says, "I don't really understand him anymore. He's become the antithesis of what he once was. Does he need the money? "Perhaps he misses the adulation, the buzz. Nostalgia has become a whole industry in itself... and I don't like it. You can never recapture what has gone." Paul Weller And John Lydon At The Mojo Awards
Nice to see Paul doing sessions for a good ole' Tory paper...very 'working class' old chap!
ReplyDeleteWhy the fuck is Paul Weller doing anything for The Sun? Total letdown.
ReplyDeleteThe Sun???? Jesus!....still could have been worse I suppose, The Mail for example!
ReplyDeleteIt all falls in line with the fan-milking, money making philosophy… £60 for a ‘Fred Perry’ here, £80 for a stripy ‘Ben Sherman’ there, ..countless reissues and deluxe versions of this that and the other, remixing the ‘A’ side to make the ‘B’ side to fuel the CD/Vinyl package of tracks already issued under some other guise. A very sad decline indeed..
