Paul Weller To Release His New Studio Album WAKE UP THE NATION in the US May 4th via Yep Roc Records!

Paul Weller releases his tenth studio solo album Wake Up the Nation in the United States on May 4th via long-time label Yep Roc Records . After an unparalleled career, characterized by constant musical experimentation, we should be used to Paul Weller's relentless desire to chop and change his sound. But after the triumphant, Brit Award-bagging success of 22 Dreams (his third solo number one in the UK), Wake Up The Nation sees one of rock's most iconic songwriters expand and evolve once more. A departure stylistically from last year's more pastoral 22 Dreams , Wake Up is lean, mean and as uncompromisingly focused as it's maker, Wake Up the Nation also brings Paul Weller full circle: twenty-eight years on from The Jam's split, two tracks feature the former bassist Bruce Foxton. The album also sees contributions from My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields, The Move's Bev Bevan and legendary session drummer Clem Cattini. With passion, progression, and a

Paul Weller's "Wake Up The Nation" First Listen Preview!

NME: 'Wake Up The Nation- First Listen'. by timthemod on Fri Jan 29, 2010 8:25 pm Paul Weller returns on April 12 with new album 'Wake Up The Nation'. He's hailed it as "political with a small 'p'" himself, and it's clear straight away that he's got rather a lot to get off his chest. 'Moonshine' All guns blazing from the off. Messed-up background feedback and honky-tonk piano compliment Weller's offbeat, slightly pished sounding vocals. "A bag of nerves I seem to suppress," goes the very first line, while the second chorus intones "there's something I cannot possess" – but this isn't a 'poor me' record at all. He's sounding up for it and energised here, and that's something t

Paul Weller Invites Bruce Foxton To Play On Upcoming Album!

THE JAM stars PAUL WELLER and BRUCE FOXTON have reteamed to record new material after falling out over royalties. The ex-bandmates haven't recorded together since The Jam split in 1982 and Weller admits it took the deaths of his father and Foxton's wife last year (09) to bring them together. He tells Mojo magazine, "We'd both lost loved ones and without getting too spiritual that was the spur of it. "I spoke to him... when his wife Pat was ill and that broke the ice... There was no big plan, it was easy, a laugh, and nice to see him and work together again. We just slipped back into it." Foxton and Weller's collaboration can be heard on the latter's new album Wake Up The Nation. They performed together on the tracks Fast Car/Slow Traffic and She Speaks . The album also features guest spots from My Bloody Valentine star Kevin Shields and former ELO drummer Bev Bevan. Note: A bit late with this info. Thought we had posted it already. Sorry for
