Paul Weller has been announced to play next summer's "Kew the music" concert series at Kew Gardens in Surrey, UK. Paul is scheduled to play Thursday 11th, July 2013, standard tickets £39.50, reserved enclosure £47.50.
John Wilson continues with his new series in which he talks to leading performers and songwriters about the album that made them or changed them. Recorded in front of a live audience at the BBC's iconic Maida Vale Studios. Each edition includes two episodes, with John initially quizzing the artist about the album in question, and then, in the B-side, the audience puts the questions. Both editions feature exclusive live performances.
Programme 3, A-side. "The Gift" - 30 years after the band's split, Paul Weller talks about 'The Gift' - the last album for The Jam. The band's only No 1 album, it marked a musical departure from the classic Jam sound to a more soul-influenced style, and it ushered in Weller's ideas for the Style Council. It was an album that didn't just focus on the state of society, it also had a lot to say about where music was going in the 1980s - and it included the classic No 1 'Town Called Malice' as well as 'Running …
Our good friend, and Australian Bureau Chief, Kenny Smith sent us this link today of Paul's performance in Sydney back in 2010 that is streaming on a site called, Mosh Cam. It looks to be a slightly edited version featuring 17 of the tracks performed that night.
"What a lovely little civilized Sunday night concert this is, isn't it? And I mean that!" PW Watch Paul Weller and other great gigs on Moshcam. Australian fans waited more than two decades for Paul Weller's long-overdue sold-out 2008 tour, and when he returned with his Wake Up The Nation tour two years later, none of that anticipation had dissipated. Few musicians have flown the mod flag with the same consistency and style as Weller, and thankfully he delivered the same degree of punk rock passion he had in the 70s to the Modfather devotees that packed out the Metro. Now that's entertainment. Full Video HERE

Paul Weller bounds into his chair, an electronic cigarette gripped in his hand. We're in the BBC's Studio Three in Maida Vale. Visibly calm owing to post-tour exhaustion and a morning trip to the gym, Weller is here to be interviewed by John Wilson for BBC Radio 4's Mastertapes series.
"Back in those days, bands put out an album a year, you toured with it for a year, then you went back in the studio and repeated the process. Looking back, I was glad I experienced that pressure. It helped me refine my craft and find myself as a writer. It kept me on my toes," says Weller, Gibson acoustic on knee. "It wasn't a treadmill, it was just what bands did back then. I never questioned it."

Paul appeared on the US late night television program, "Jimmy Kimmel Live" whilst in Los Angeles to perform at the Greek Theatre. Although in LA to promote his latest LP, "Sonik Kicks," Weller chose to perform two Jam songs, "STaRt"(Broadcast) and "Running On The Spot" (Web Only). Big thanks to our friends at WellerWorld for the vid.
Paul Weller’s Greek Theatre show had only been underway a short time when he arrived at the snappy, new retro-leaning ditty “That Dangerous Age.” The lyrical protagonist goes through a midlife crisis, but this legendary rocker sure didn’t sing it from recent personal experience.
Back home in England, Weller is nearly as popular now at 54 as he was fronting the trailblazing punk/R&B trio the Jam at 24. Headlining large venues and festivals is still the norm there, and all his solo albums have gone Top 10. The strong current one, Sonik Kicks, came out last spring and entered the U.K. charts at No. 1. Noel Gallagher, Blur’s Graham Coxon, the High Llamas’ Sean O’Hagan are among those who assisted in the studio.
Unquestionably, the past few years have seen the Modfather (as Weller is affectionately known) craft some of the most adventurous and compelling music of his lengthy career. Here in America, the singer/guitarist remains a rev…

There is no bigger music fan in fashion than John Varvatos, who's turned that love into relationships with a number of rock stars, from Chris Cornell and Dave Matthews to Alice Cooper, all of whom have played outside of Varvatos' West Hollywood store. Last night, his newest model, Paul Weller, came in to the WeHo spot to help Varvatos celebrate his 10-year anniversary at the location.
Before the show, Varvatos introduced Weller as one of his biggest influences, both musically and in fashion. In an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year Varvatos said, "Paul has always been this super-cool, stylish guy, from the first time I saw him with the Jam in 1977 to today. He's probably one of the best-dressed, best-looking guys in rock & roll."
Perhaps fired up by Varvatos' continuous praise, Weller, who plays L.A.'s Greek Theater this Friday in his last U.S. show in 2012, led his three-piece band through an hourlong set at maximum vo…
Paul has just confirmed three shows in Europe that will see him visit Germany and the Netherlands in December. These will be his last gigs in mainland Europe for 2012, a final chance to see Sonik Kicks live before the festive period. The dates are:
2012 Tour de France and Olympic champion Bradley Wiggins has recorded a special show with his idol Paul Weller for BBC 6Music which will air over the Christmas period.
According to reports, the pair were in the radio station’s Salford studios yesterday (October 8th) to record the one-off show, which will feature classic tracks and stories from their respective careers.
“It’s fantastic that two men who have excelled in their chosen fields can share their love of music on BBC Radio 6 Music,” James Stirling, head of programming for 6Music, has said.
“We’ve had a long relationship with Paul Weller and I know that Bradley and his team listened to 6 Music during this year’s Tour de France. Their show will be a chance for them to reflect on their year and to play and discuss the tunes that have inspired them throughout their lives.”

Legendary Jam frontman Paul Weller performed an exclusive charity gig at Pallant House Gallery on Saturday night (22 Sept 2012) to celebrate the 80th birthday of Sir Peter Blake.
The guest of honour was Sir Peter Blake himself, whose extensive musical connections are currently being celebrated at the Gallery with a major exhibition called ‘Peter Blake and Pop Music' (until 7 October 2012).
Best known for designing the iconic album cover for The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the ‘Godfather of Pop Art' has been has been closely linked with pop music since the 1950s. Not only has he painted images inspired by his musical heroes such as Elvis Presley, The Beatles and Sammy Davis Junior but he has also worked closely with musicians and bands including Oasis, The Who and Eric Clapton to create some of the most recognisable album covers of the last 50 years.
One of the most celebrated is Paul Weller's …

On the heels of the announcement that Paul Weller will be the face of John Varvatos in the designer's Fall 2012 worldwide advertising campaign comes "The Attic", the third single from Paul Weller's Critically acclaimed album, Sonik Kicks. It is a pop song from a future time somewhere in the past. As Weller himself puts it, "It's like a 50s pop song, but revved up: like Helen Shapiro on gear. It's got the pizzicato strings to it, but with that manic pace, too. Lyrically, it's a bit lovelorn." However you describe it, the track is a classic Weller pop song. The B-side is the soulful, previously unreleased song, "We Got A Lot".
Paul stopped by last.fm and performed an acoustic session along with an interview. The session took place in May, but was posted just last week at the last.fm site.
"When The Jam released their debut single “In The City” b/w “Takin’ My Love” on April 29, 1977 in the U.K., the heralded musical career of Paul Weller was born. Next up was The Style Council and after those days were over, Paul, not knowing in next immediate steps, eventually took on his long-standing solo career. To our ears, the release of Sonik Kicks, his eleventh studio album, brings back the focus and vibrancy of The Jam classic long-player, Sound Affects. Two days before returning (for the first time) to the site of the first 4 U.S. shows The Jam did at CBGB in October 1977 (now a John Varvatos store), Paul along with Andy Crofts and Steve Cradock graced the Last.fm studio and treated us to three songs from Sonik Kicks."
A new issue of Jam/Weller Fanzine All Mod Icon is coming out on Sept 6th. It is a 48 page, full colour glossy A5 Magazine with a big feature on The Jam album, 'Sound Affects.' Pre-orders are from Monday 20th Aug at 9am. £4.99+£1.20 P&P (UK)/£4.99+£1.99 P&P (Overseas).
It was announced today that Paul will play a concert in Los Angeles on Oct. 19th at the Greek Theatre! Paul will be having the fantastic Brooklyn based SOUL outfit, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings as support!
Paul played three shows in Italy this past week. These concerts were the first that did not feature the full 'Sonik Kicks' album being played in it's entirety. There was really only one surprise in the set, 'In The City,' which was brought out a few months ago in New York City.
Former Paul Weller band mate Steve White manages this really talented up and coming artist, Sam Gray. Sam's got a new single coming out on August 5th titled, "This Girl." The tune has a great Northern Soul vibe and features the brass/horn section that played on Paul Weller's "Studio 150" and "As Is Now" lp's. Check out Sam's brand new video!
