PAUL WELLER has urged fellow Brit JOHN LYDON to stop clinging to the past - because the punk icon has become the "antithesis" of JOHNNY ROTTEN. The Jam founder admits he shudders every time he sees Lydon on reality TV shows or hears of another planned Sex Pistols reunion. And he has two simple words of advice for the punk star: "Leave it." Weller says, "I don't really understand him anymore. He's become the antithesis of what he once was. Does he need the money? "Perhaps he misses the adulation, the buzz. Nostalgia has become a whole industry in itself... and I don't like it. You can never recapture what has gone." Paul Weller And John Lydon At The Mojo Awards
Un believable./ My dad is traveling from Sweden JUST to see him with his son (IE me) Disappointment doesn't even cover the feeling. I turned him on to Stanley road, and it has been a favorite of ours ever since. Why the *** was it canceled. We have been looking forwards to this for months.
ReplyDeleteDang!!
ReplyDeleteso bummed! does this mean no late night tv appearance as well?
ReplyDeleteThis seems to be correct. I received the email and Ticketmasters site also lists the concert as cancelled. Bummer - we have booked flights from Buffalo especially to see Paul. Does anyone know the reason?
ReplyDeleteThe reason for the cancellation is listed as "personal" and we wouldn't want to speculate what that means.
ReplyDeleteThe Letterman appearance has been canceled as well.
I am coming from Kingston Ont and am disappointed to say the least but my heart bleeds for you sweden. I went to see him in London last May and Toronto in Sept both were a blast this crushes me but who knows he might come back, did he preform in the desert?
ReplyDeleteTimpa- I can relate. Not that it compares with the cost of traveling from Sweden. But I bought concert tickets, plane tickets and booked a hotel, too. I hope you will still have a lovely time in NYC.
ReplyDeleteI heard his father is ill and may have taken a turn for the worse, which is why the gig was canceled.
ReplyDeleteLiz..you may be right.
