PAUL WELLER has urged fellow Brit JOHN LYDON to stop clinging to the past - because the punk icon has become the "antithesis" of JOHNNY ROTTEN. The Jam founder admits he shudders every time he sees Lydon on reality TV shows or hears of another planned Sex Pistols reunion. And he has two simple words of advice for the punk star: "Leave it." Weller says, "I don't really understand him anymore. He's become the antithesis of what he once was. Does he need the money? "Perhaps he misses the adulation, the buzz. Nostalgia has become a whole industry in itself... and I don't like it. You can never recapture what has gone." Paul Weller And John Lydon At The Mojo Awards
Did I miss something? I don't recall Eton Rifles being played...I thought he went straight into That's Entertainment?
ReplyDeleteAlso to note...Broken Stones was added to by some choruses of "Oh Happy Day"
Thanks for posting!
You didnt miss anything. They didn't do 7 & 3 or Eton Rifles. There were a few 'add lib' moments.
ReplyDeletea great show that the band and crowd were both up for.
You are correct. They didn;t do 7 & 3 either. But the improvisation we'll made up for it.
ReplyDeleteA great Weller gig, as usual.
they didnt do 7&3 or Eton Rifles but the improvisation well made up for it. There was a bob Dylan cover mixed into the acoustic set and Weller wet into a song momentarily, but I dont recall what it was.
ReplyDeleteA great show
Any idea if there's a recording of this floating around somewhere? It was only my 2nd PW gig (first was SF's 2005 show), and I'd like to get a recording of one or the other someday...
